Since receiving her BA from Connecticut College and her MPA from New York University, Jennifer has spent the last 20 years working with innovative community development organizations in New York, Boston and Providence. After working for 10 years as the Director of Housing and Operations at Breaking Ground in New York City, she moved into the position of Deputy Director of Madison Park Development Corporation in Roxbury, MA, and then, in 2011, took the role of Associate Director for ONE Neighborhood Builders in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence. After leaving the agency in 2015, Jen returns to ONE|NB in consortium with running her own consulting company, Farnum Associates, that works to increase organizational impact through resource development, financial management, and strategic planning and implementation.
Community Building Manager
Allegra Received her BA from Bates College in Environmental Studies and her Masters of Public Health from Brown University. While pursuing her masters, she worked both with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections and the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence to intervene on health outcomes of incarcerated women and decrease recidivism upon re-entry. Before pursuing her masters, she worked for nonprofits throughout Rhode Island, serving most recently as the Education Director for Revive the Roots. Prior she worked as both a youth program facilitator and manager, creating and running programs for the Pawtucket Prevention Coalition, Southside Community Land Trust, Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living and The Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art.
Manager of Homeownership, Asset Building and Financial Capability
Ms. Rosa Pastor has been a Housing Counselors for over 3 years. During this time, she has helped over 150 families avoid foreclosure, and over 95 families become first time homeowners. Ms. Pastor teaches a number of education classes in both English and Spanish. These include homebuyer education classes, fighting predatory lending workshops, financial fundamentals, and landlord training. Ms. Pastor began her career as a LISC/AmeriCorps member and continued her education by obtaining certifications through NeighborWorks America. Prior to ONE Neighborhood Builders, she worked at West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation She’s also worked as a Volunteer Community Organizer for 4 years at Olneyville Housing.
Comminuty Health Integrator
Karelin Marcia graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Human Development and Family Studies. As the Community Health Integrator she serves as the key contact for the Rhode Island Department of Health and the Olneyville Health Equity Zone. Through community building initiatives she works to create and maintain partnerships between health care settings and the community. She also works in collecting, analyzing, and sharing data for the benefit of residents, groups, organizations and institutions in Olneyville to eliminate health disparities and promote a healthy community. Being bilingual gives her an upper hand in community outreach and engagement in a predominantly Spanish community.
Accessing Home AmeriCorps Volunteer
Jasmin Leon is an AmeriCorps Member serving at ONE Neighborhood Builders. Over the next 11 months, she pledges to volunteer over 1700 hours of service to community building. Jasmin will assess the needs of the community and work on innovative programs that engage residents. Her main responsibility is to deliver the Rent Rite program, designed to prepare prospective tenants currently on waitlists for successful tenancy, and Back on Track counseling, an eviction prevention program for residents at risk of eviction. In the past, Jasmin acted as the assistant secretary at St. Michael Church, where she worked with the community and coordinated events to help raise money for the church. Jasmin also worked with children for 6 years in numerous daycares.
