Michael DeVos

Executive Director

Michael DeVos brings 35 years of experience in real estate, community development, and affordable housing to ONE NB. His experience includes serving as Executive Director at Resources for Community Development, a Berkeley, California nonprofit devoted to community development and to creating and preserving affordable housing. He also served as Development Director for the Maine State Housing Authority, where he administered funds for affordable and supportive housing. Additionally, he was Executive Director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, a Housing Finance Agency, the state entity responsible for first time homeownership, community development, and the financing of affordable housing. Michael is a graduate of Harvard College and also holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Jay O’Grady

Director of Operations and Asset Management

Jay O’Grady is responsible for overall office operations and directing our asset management programs. Prior to joining ONE NB, Jay served as sole staff member of the Blackstone Valley Housing Development Corporation in Woonsocket, and worked for years as a human resources consultant in the high-tech markets of Boston and Washington DC. Jay is active in the community outside of ONE NB, currently serving as State Representative for District 46 and having previously served as Town Council President in Lincoln. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from URI and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont.

 

Tina Shepard

Tina received a BA in History from Rhode Island College and a MS in Organizational Management from Springfield College. She has worked in many different capacities within the Providence community, including serving as Scholarship Coordinator/ Community Partner Manager at Rhode Islanders Sponsoring Education and as Director of Out of School Time at John Hope Settlement House. Tina was also the co-founder and director of Project Ujima, a local health initiative that trained and educated high school students to utilize theater as a teaching vehicle to educate their peers about making healthier life choices. She has also served as a board member for Sojourner House, Co-Chair of the RI Community Planning Group for HIV prevention, and adult coordinator for Inner Circle, the youth voice of the RI Community Planning Group.

 

Alain Noiset

Real Estate Project Manager

Alain Noiset works on a variety of affordable housing developments in Olneyville and Elmwood, including tax credit financed family housing, housing for the elderly, and homeownership initiatives. He is interested in urban neighborhood regeneration through neighborhood redesign, rebuilding of the physical neighborhood and grassroots community building initiatives. Prior to joining ONE NB, Alain worked with the Women’s Development Corporation and The Community Builders. Alain holds a BA in Economics from the University of Connecticut and an MA in Urban Planning from SUNY Albany.

 

Rosa Pastor

Manager of Homeownership, Asset Building and Financial Capability

Ms. Rosa Pastor has been a Housing Counselors for over 3 years. During this time, she has helped over 150 families avoid foreclosure, and over 95 families become first time homeowners. Ms. Pastor teaches a number of education classes in both English and Spanish. These include homebuyer education classes, fighting predatory lending workshops, financial fundamentals, and landlord training. Ms. Pastor began her career as a LISC/AmeriCorps member and continued her education by obtaining certifications through NeighborWorks America. Prior to ONE Neighborhood Builders, she worked at West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation She’s also worked as a Volunteer Community Organizer for 4 years at Olneyville Housing.

Meliza Urquhart

Property Manager, First Realty Management

Meliza Urquhart is responsible for the physical and financial operation of ONE NB’s rental properties and keeping them in compliance with federal, state & local regulations and with First Realty policies and procedures. Meliza ensures that the physical condition of the properties is safe and attractive at all times and meets inspection guidelines. She also responds appropriately to residents’ concerns.

 

Karelin Marcia

Comminuty Health Integrator

Karelin Marcia graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Human Development and Family Studies. As the Community Health Integrator she serves as the key contact for the Rhode Island Department of Health and the Olneyville Health Equity Zone. Through community building initiatives she works to create and maintain partnerships between health care settings and the community. She also works in collecting, analyzing, and sharing data for the benefit of residents, groups, organizations and institutions in Olneyville to eliminate health disparities and promote a healthy community. Being bilingual gives her an upper hand in community outreach and engagement in a predominantly Spanish community.

Jasmin Leon

Accessing Home AmeriCorps Volunteer

Jasmin Leon is an AmeriCorps Member serving at ONE Neighborhood Builders. Over the next 11 months, she pledges to volunteer over 1700 hours of service to community building. Jasmin will assess the needs of the community and work on innovative programs that engage residents. Her main responsibility is to deliver the Rent Rite program, designed to prepare prospective tenants currently on waitlists for successful tenancy, and Back on Track counseling, an eviction prevention program for residents at risk of eviction. In the past, Jasmin acted as the assistant secretary at St. Michael Church, where she worked with the community and coordinated events to help raise money for the church. Jasmin also worked with children for 6 years in numerous daycares.
